Ted's Surprise 30th Birthday Party

Yesterday, we celebrated Ted's 30th birthday (a couple of weeks early). I had been in cahoots with Ted's parents since November. At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to try to plan a big party with friends and family, or a small one with just immediate family at a nice restaurant. I ended up choosing to plan something right in the middle. We held the party at my in-laws beautiful home in Reading. (My Father-in-law insists that they had the large addition put on just so that they could host parties there comfortably). I had everyone sort of chip in and bring one of Ted's favorite dishes; buffalo chicken, potato skins, mini wiener dogs, a special dip, and cupcakes were among the selections.

Ted thought that we were actually just briefly stopping by his parents house to assist them with something while we were on our way to another party (I had to make sure he was dressed appropriately; he's been known to keep around a holey or stained shirt or two). We turned onto the street on which his folks live, and my heart started racing! I knew that he had no idea. He first saw my Aunt & Uncles car and asked "Who's car is that?" Then there was a brief pause, followed by a nickname that Ted only tends to call me when either he is mad at me or when he really needs me for something. In this case, he was mad. He continued to drive right past their house, and around the block a few times until he was calm enough to make an entrance.

It really didn't take him long to warm up to the idea, though.. maybe a half hour, tops. By the end of the night, he told me it was a fantastic party and that he had a great time... and he really enjoyed all of the food. Here are some photos from the festivities! Thanks for reading and enjoy :)

A Cute One!

It's super late and I am just about ready to head into bed, but I couldn't resist posting this very sweet photo. This is my Eliot reading his Thomas book that Nana got him for Christmas. He loves this book. Of course he loves the "chooch," but more specifically, he loves when Mama pushes him over every time Thomas screeches his breaks-- he gets a big kick out of that :)

Anyway, this was taken at nap time today. I told him to pick a book to read and today it was Thomas (Thomas is a popular choice. He also loves his little people zoo book, any truck book, his peek-a-boo kitty book, or his other train book). I had the camera ready to capture my little bookworm and what happened next was even cuter than I was aiming for :)
